A riverside in trust for the community

Dead Centre of Twickenham?

An interesting letter, written by Sue Hamilton-Miller, with a humorous sting in its tail, appeared in the Richmond and Twickenham Times (Friday, June 24, 2011).

She wrote that ‘with regard to the Twickenham riverside, far from being three phased scenarios… I was dismayed to learn each riverside scenario stands on its own.’ She pointed out the complexities and pitfalls that would result from the public choosing either scenarios two or three – which included getting ‘the owners of King’s Street to relinquish their Santander building and car park’ and the ‘quid pro quo demanded by the developers.’

She concluded her letter by stating that ‘If either of these last two scenarios are chosen… I have asked my husband to scatter my ashes on the derelict site of the swimming pool site, as I know they will remain there for decades to come.’
