The temporary ‘Play Beach’ situated by the Twickenham Riverside is proving a great success. TRTG’s Tony Shoebridge thinks it’s worthy of a ‘round of congratulations. “It is quite excellent. I went by when it was sunny. The sand-pit was packed and some families had spread through onto the lawn which had been enclosed for “Twelfth Night”.”
The facility was opened by the Mayor, Cllr Claire Head, on Wednesday. In the Council’s information release Cllr Pamela Fleming says, “This beach will be a temporary and exciting addition to Twickenham Riverside this summer. Many residents won’t have an opportunity to go on holiday, so this small strip will provide a place to build a sandcastle, sit and look at the river or indeed take part in one of the fun activities organised by our Play Rangers.” LBRuT’s Play Rangers are Lottery Funded and attend a number of special events organised by the Council.
TRTG congratulates LBRuT for organising the Play Beach. And looks forward with anticipation to the opening of the adjacent former pool site-which will provide another area for families to use and enjoy. Imagine what fun will ensue!
The Play Beach will be open until 7th August .
